A Few Words About Sharon Armstrong

Sharon Armstrong Profile

My fitness journey started out with taking a group of people on a mountain bike ride in the local woods. Prior to this I was a qualified nursery nurse, youth and adult trainer in business administration and IT so my passion has always been in educating people and helping them to progress and grow.

I have always strived to achieve which has not been easy as I have had injuries to manage and a weight issue which after a lot of effort and patience I managed to lose two stone of body fat.

I trained myself to become more flexible and stronger which has made my quality of life and energy levels much improved and because I know how challenging this can be I would like to help others become successful in their endeavours of becoming a fitter and better version of themselves in the future.

Pilates

I have completed the Neuro pilates course with APPI which looks at neuroplasticity, motor learning and postural control This method was developed from a study that found the benefits of the pilates exercises were not being optimised due to the high level of strength, control and body awareness initially being asked of clients. This approach then led to the APPi method which allowed pilates to be used by health and fitness professionals alike to empower clients to be able to embrace pilates from any fitness level to prevent injury and provide the best possible treatment for each client.

I have also completed the APPI kids and teens pilates course which covers infants juniors and seniors at each stage and has a different focus and goals for the child. This involves looking into the understanding of normal child development and coming up with a variety of ideas for an innovative and exciting program for children as they grow through the various stages of development.

I am also finding that integrating pilates and APPI neuro pilates method helps with the improvement of mind to muscle connection especially after a trauma/injury control This method was developed from a study that found the benefits of the pilates exercises were not being optimised due to the high level of strength, control and body awareness initially being asked of clients. This approach then led to the APPi method which allowed pilates to be used by health and fitness professionals alike to empower clients to be able to embrace pilates from any fitness level to prevent injury and provide the best possible treatment for each client.
